Ward Charcoal Ovens






The behive-shaped Ward Charcoal Ovens ovens were used in the late 19th century to generate charcoal for use in the mines of nearby Ward, Nevada.

We spotted a giant head, 40+ feet above the ground, alongside the road. No one wanted to stand in the snow for a photo in front of Honest Abe, so here he is all by himself.
